Sustainability & Social Responsibility
We use organic cotton to create products in a way that enriches the environment and improves conditions for farmers.
Organic cotton farming was developed by social entrepreneurs, farmers and NGOs who – like many of us – did not like the overuse of pesticides, or the social problems caused by production practice, including farmer debt and sickness caused by chemicals.
Organic cotton eliminates the use of toxic and persistent chemicals, improves soil health and increases water conservation. All of which is better for the environment, and for farmers and their communities.
These benefits explain why we have been increasing the amount of certified organic cotton we use in our collections over the years. Today, 74% of the cotton we use is certified organic and we are committed to continue growing the use of organic cotton and by the year 2022, 95% of all cotton we use will be certified organic.
Shirts consciously created in TENCEL™ - these are everyday essentials that feel softer to your skin.
TENCEL™ fibers help to maintain the environmental balance by being integrated into nature´s cycle. The fibers originate from the renewable raw material wood, created by photosynthesis. The certified biobased fibers are manufactured using an environmentally responsible production process. The fibers are certified as compostable and biodegradable, and thus can fully revert back to nature.
The future of our brand relies on people: those who produce our clothes, the farmers who grow the crops, our employees and customers.
Our fabrics are sourced and our products manufactured through carefully selected suppliers located around the world, many of which have worked with us since the brand was founded in 2006. Most of them are small manufacturers and artisans who specialize in particular techniques and processes.
We believe that the future of our brand relies on people: those who produce our clothes, the farmers who grow the crops, our employees and customers. We believe that everybody in our supply chain should be treated with respect and dignity. Ljung by Marcus Larsson is available world-wide online and through department stores and boutiques throughout Scandinavia.
